Kartik Aaryan recalls ghostly encounter on Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3 set: 'Had to change the mark,' says Director Anees Bazmee

In Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3, Kartik Aaryan returns as Rooh Baba, the ghost whisperer who previously freed a spirit in Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2. This time, his character encounters two Manjulikas—played by Vidya Balan and Madhuri Dixit. However, there was reportedly another ghostly presence on set that truly spooked Kartik. Recently, while promoting the film on The Kapil Sharma Show, Kartik shared the strange encounter he had while filming in Kolkata.

Using a ghost app in the graveyard

During one shoot in a Kolkata graveyard, a member of the director Anees Bazmee’s team introduced Kartik to a “Ghost Finder” app on his phone. Curious and in the spirit of his role, Kartik decided to try it out. As he waved the phone around the graveyard, the app detected a spirit right near the grave of someone named Thomas. This turned out to be the exact spot where Kartik was supposed to stand for his next shot. Unsure if it was real or a prank, Kartik immediately felt uneasy and decided to play it safe.

Kartik recalled, “It really showed a ghost on the app. I don’t know if someone was pranking me, but I asked Anees sir to change my mark so I wouldn’t have to stand next to Thomas’s grave. Instead, I moved to a spot closer to Martin’s grave!” The cast and crew burst into laughter when Kartik shared the story. But for him, the moment was genuinely spooky.

Kartik’s ghostly experience wasn’t the only spooky part of filming Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3. As Rooh Baba, he had to interact with Vidya and Madhuri in their roles as Manjulikas, which added another layer of eerie fun to the shoot. The movie mixes scares with humor, and Kartik’s real-life ghost encounter seems to be the perfect story to promote this horror-comedy.
